New Meeting place

Skagit Regional Airport, meeting room (in building at 98233) 15400 Airport Drive, west of Burlington

Wade has reserved this location for February but he has not heard back regarding a permanent location.

Directions: From I-5, take exit 230 (Hwy 20) and go west. After about 3 miles, turn right (north) on Higgins Airport Way. Follow this road around a few bends and turn left at the sign on the left that reads, “Port Offices, Passenger Terminal,” (past Watertank Road on the right). Park in the office visitors’ parking lot, lined with a bright yellow curb.

Our meeting room has an outside door that is in the middle of the tan-colored, one-story brick building (Port of Skagit County on the left and Skagit Regional Airport on the right). Look for the sign on the door and enter. Wade will arrive around 4:55 p.m. and you are welcome to arrive early.

Highlights

Programs:  We are looking for presenters. John Seehorn will be taking on this job in March. If you have a friend or know someone who might have some good stories to share, photos of a recent climb or a great adventure, call Wade at 360-770-0250.

Web site: Steve Trent has the site up and running at long last!! Check it out. If you have gear to swap, photos, stories, reports on a recent outing or want to check out old newsletters the website can do it all. Contact Steve Trent (info at back of newsletter).

Blanchard Mnt: State Sen. Harriet Spaniel came to a meeting and said that the number one thing citizens can do to take action is to write letters to news-paper editors, to Doug Sutherland, Com-missioner of Public Lands, to Skagit County Commissioners and to DNR. It is easier than attending meetings or doing trail work or protesting. So if you haven’t written one lately, now is the time. For more info, log onto blanchardmountain.org or call Maggie Sullivan at 360-724-3158.

Secretary’s Report

By Laurie Sherman

January Meeting
Wade opened the meeting by recognizing new faces. Welcome to Patsy Martin and her son! Also, a big welcome back to all those members who have been hibernating, it felt good to have a full room.

New Biz:
Meeting space sought: In January, we held our LAST MEETING at the Skagit 911 Center. Apparently with the new security measures, they are no longer able to allow outside groups to use the building. We are looking for a new location.

ACFL: Anacortes Community Forest Lands. Maggie, Harold and Wade have been following the monthly meetings of the ACFL.
There have been some trail closures, some changes in the trails, and, possibly, changes in the way the trail system develops in the future.

If you are interested in finding out more, their meetings are at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month at the Anacortes Senior Center.

Reminder: SNACKS FEB MEETING: Feryll: Grub; Jenny: Beverages

Dues are due: SAC treasurer Jill Youde is back from Italy and looking to collect your money! $25 per household /year.
Bring your checkbook to the next meeting or mail your check to SAC, c/o Jill Youde, Treasurer, 1108 16th St., Anacortes WA 98221.
