It's that time again!

Another Awesome SAC meeting is happening this week!

Important Club Information SAC Executive Committee Information The current SAC executive committee is nearing the end of their 2 years of service. The club is looking for the following positions to be filled. Below is an overview of the roles and tasks: 1. President: main duties include leading the monthly SAC meetings, coordinating with the rest of the SAC committees, filling committee vacancies, and singing for things as necessary. 2. Vice President: cover for the President when they’re not available. Schedule the library room for the monthly SAC Meetings. 3. Secretary: Responsible for the SAC Club email, responding to general inquiries, taking notes at the SAC Meeting, sending out info and updates to the club. Writing the monthly Newsletter traditionally falls to the Secretary, however, if an additional person would like to only write the newsletter, that is a welcomed option. 4. Treasurer: keeps track of the club finances, club insurance, filing of non-profit status, and collects membership dues. Here is a link to the club's website outlining the roles in more detail. https://www.skagitalpineclub.com/bylaws These positions can only be held by the same person for up to 2 years, so please reach out if you have interest in any of these positions or would like to nominate someone. An Election will be held at the November meeting, please attend. We are also looking for a “Monthly Program Coordinator”. This person would find and organize speakers, presenters, or activities for the SAC monthly meetings. Vamos Outdoors/SAC Opportunity This month we have another opportunity to work with Vamos Outdoors and the Burlington-Edison High School students at Riverstone Climbing Gym! We are looking for several more belayers on Saturday, October 22nd from 12-2:30pm. The students got so excited in February about their climbing experience with us, they have been asking about it since! Come help support the next generation of climbers in Skagit, and sign up to help out as a belayer by October 7th: https://forms.gle/uhVNiyiBvSn4tmzs9 BMC planning meeting coming soon! Mid-October we will do an initial planning meeting to begin preparations for next year’s Basic Mountaineering Course. We will need a lot of support (including a co-coordinator). If you would like to help with the course planning in any way, please email skagitbmcinstructors@gmail.com Park Butte Lookout The work party has been postponed for this year. At some point this month, Jfro will go up to close the shutters for the season. Next year we anticipate painting the interior floors along with some other touch ups, and subsequent decluttering of accumulated items. SAC Holiday Potluck Bring your family and come join the fun! Members and non-members are all welcome.

  • Potluck: Please bring a dish to share and your own beverage of choice. (alcohol is permitted)

  • Ornament Contest: Enter a homemade mountain or climbing themed tree ornament. The winner will be determined by silent voting.

  • Relay competition: Join if you choose for some mountaineering and climbing themed relays that are sure to get you laughing and cheering!

  • White elephant exchange: Bring a gift for each family member that chooses to participate.

  • Timed rope-coiling competition: Let's find out who's the jedi rope master of the year.
